Introducing Shangri-La's Batteries Not Included Lil Abner His parents are Dad:Ch Madd Hatter's Earl Grey, ROM "Earl" and Mom: Shangri-La's Cozy Chamomile "Cozy" Born Labor Day 2008 (9-1-08) Lil Abner had a bit of a rocky start. Abner and his sister , Oola, started life both weighing in at 8 oz. By 10 days, he was only up to 13 oz while sis was up to 18 oz. After watching him nurse, we realized he was having trouble and took him in for a check up. Diagnosed mildly Hydrocephalic at 10 days, he was removed from his mom and Chris took over his care 24-7. Here he is at 4 weeks with sister, Oola At 5 weeks, he received a Christmas package from students at the Peddie School in New Jersey Here he is modeling his new coats Because of his small size, he got chilled very easily! Then momma Chris got this silly idea for a photo shoot Happy New Year, Abner! He developed pneumonia twice in his first 4 months His growth was slowed but finally at 4 months, he weighed in at 4 pounds! Then misfortune struck again. He developed diarrhea and lost several ounces in just a few hours! He was put on medication for bacterial enteritis but he had no appetite Finally, after 2 days he started eating again. It was a struggle, but he made 5 pounds on his 5 month b'day! At 6 months, he was up to 6 pounds 7 ounces! Then the weekend of his 7 months b'day, I showed him in his first show. He was up to 7 pounds and 13 ounces Judge Keke Kahn remarked that he'd get lost in the hoofprints left in the horse arena where the show was being held All joking stopped when he moved out! He was awarded WD over his uncle, Axel! April 4, 2009 Lil Abner's first show Abner does not like the table much, but he's learning! We still take one day at a time with Lil Abner. He's a work in progress. At the very least, whether we continue his show career or not, plans are to start him in agility as soon as he is old enough and his doctors think it is safe STAY TUNED!
